About Love waves

Matt Stephen is the founder and owner of Love Waves Gower, an independently run, core surf shop based in the Swansea area of South Wales. 

A surf industry veteran, Matt has been in the game for over 30 years. 

 Cutting his teeth as a sales rep with Aussie brand Billabong in the 90’s, Matt has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to retail and running surf brands. 

His talents are not purely land-based either.

A standout surfer growing up, Matt was the first-ever surfer to win the Welsh Nationals Open and Junior categories in the same year - quite an achievement!

He went on to represent his country at the World Surf Games, as well as the European Championships a number of times. 

Love Waves Gower was opened in 2023 in killay swansea - right no the edge of the gower peninsula.  The shop is familly run still today, and they all have experience in fashion and hardware and know all there is to know about surfing on the gower.
